2009 Accomplishments of Autrey Kennels
Retrievers
2009 was a real good year for Autrey Kennels in that we ran a total of 18 weekends during the year. This was a slow down from 2008 but we still
titled 18 dogs and many earned multiple titles. More good news is that Geri and
I had no major health problems.
Some real bad news is that we lost HRCH UH Bo's Gator Pt.
Cajun Roux SH, a big chocolate male better known as "Colorado Roux" who belonged
to Mandy Cieslinski of Colorado in training. LSU Veterinarian School of Medicine
said that he had an allergic reaction to a bee sting. Other bad news was we lost
the rear end of the dog truck two days before the Spring Grand due to a bad
wheel bearing. Talk about throwing you off stride. We got the truck back the
night of the banquet. Thanks to all the help from different people as we had
dogs on several different trucks as well as a local kennel while our truck was
being repaired.
Some other good news was we got to use the new kennels at
Autrey Kennels North. While still not completed, they were serviceable enough to
be able to house dogs, but still working on electrical and insulation. Geri's
garden was a disappointment this year as the weather was so cool up there that
nothing matured. While that was great for dog training, it took a toll on her
garden. July and August were two of the coolest on record.

as "Coco", owned by Keith Mosley of Springfield, GA, obtained her HRC Started
Hunting Retriever title this fall while she was at Champion Retrievers under the
training of Joe Perron while waiting for me to come back from up north.
Most of the big dogs have gone home for the hunting season. We
have seven in for training during the winter; six in for forcing and one that is
staying the winter to transition from seasoned to finished. Having less dogs
gives me the chance to hunt, work on some farm projects, and recharge my
batteries. We hope to be able to get back to Kansas for our annual pheasant
hunt. If so, we will carry a truck load of dogs with us to hunt. Let's hope the
ducks come on down to help make this year one to remember!
