GRHRCH UH Missy's Cajun Dakota MH, better known as "Cody", is a
stately 90 pound, long legged, black male Labrador that
runs with the speed and style desired of a Grand Champion or Master Hunter.
An excellent marking and lining dog, he runs as hard on a blind as he does a
mark. With 13 HRC International Grand Hunt test passes, Cody made history as the first retriever ever
to accomplish this achievement. His consistency is
outstanding. He has run in 15 Grand tests, passed a phenomenal 13, and
went 6 for 6 in AKC Master Hunter tests. Both his Grand Hunting Retriever
Champion and Master Hunter titles were added to Cody's name at 4 years of age.
He is also a member of the HRC's 2,000 Point Club, listed as one of the UKC's top
sires, sired 4 Grand Champions, and several with one Grand pass already.
He
was chosen as Purina Dog of the Year in their 1999 ad campaign and he is still featured in some of
their ads today. In 2002, he also claimed victory to the World Duck Dog Championship in Stuttgart,
Arkansas. Bill and Cody went up against 50 of the toughest
competitors in the retriever world, in the most recognized duck hole in the USA,
and emerged winners of the event. Cody later went on to take 2nd place in
the Super Retriever Series held in Northfield, Minnesota, and 3rd place in the
ESPN Great Outdoor Games held in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Cody
is hunted on dove, quail, duck, geese, woodcock, pheasant, and chukar.
Bill and Cody have hunted in Illinois, Ohio, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi,
Georgia, and Texas. Quiet in the duck blind, he turns into "all
business" when its time to retrieve. He his as much at home in the house,
lying beside Bill's chair as he is competing at the events or hunting from the
blind. As you can tell, Cody has done it all, time after time.
Cody passed away in May of 2006. His heritage and talent still available
through frozen semen. As a proven sire,
his desirable traits are passed along to his offspring with a pedigree rich with talent and
ability. Litters are large, early
maturing pups, and all three color variations. Many of Cody's offspring can be
found running various events across the country - and are bringing home titles
of their own, including Grand Hunting Retriever Champions, Master Hunters,
Hunting Retriever Champions, and Upland Hunters.
