GRHRCH Lake's Cajun Dakota 12 Gauge MH, better known as Gauge, is a 70lb. black male labrador retriever that competes with style desired
of a Grand Champion. An excellent marking and lining dog, he is as comfortable in the water as he is on land, on either marks or blinds.
Gauge has passed two Grands back to back, was one of only 27 to pass the Spring 2005 Grand out of 297 dogs. He repeated in the Fall 2005 Grand as
1 of only 43 dogs to pass. He did not handle on a mark in either Grand. His consistency has been outstanding.
Gauge is also running Master Hunter tests as well as the Super Retriever Series. He was the youngest dog in the semifinals in Stuttgart, and placed 9th.
Already entered into the 2006 Super Retriever Series, he will start training as soon as hunting season is over.

Gauge is hunted from the Rio Grande in Texas, to the Goose fields of North Dakota. Every year, he hunts giant Canadian geese and pheasants in North and
South Dakota in early September at Fire Water Lodge. The guides call Gauge "The
Vacuum Cleaner" for his ability to sweep the CRP fields for pheasants.
Goose hunting in the morning and pheasant hunting in the evening, and at the end of hunting, it's back to training, running a hunt test in Minnesota
on the way south, check in and see Mom and Dad in Louisiana, and then on to South Texas where backed up to the Rio Grande River, he is hunted on doves.
It is hot and humid, but the doves sure do fly down there. Later on in the year, Gauge duck and goose hunts with his owner, Duane, on Catahoula Lake, as well
as on the Louisiana Delta Plantation. Several trips have also been made to the Midland - Odessa Texas area for quail hunting.
Gauge is as much at home in the house as he is hunting, or at the line at a competition. Quite in the duck blind, but all business when asked to retrieve.
He is tri-factored and has thrown large litters of healthy pups in all colors:
black, chocolate and yellow. His hips are OFA Excellent, eyes were CERF'd Clear, and Elbows Normal.
Gauge will soon join the HRC 500 point club and attained his Master Hunter title in 2007.
